Amir Or has worked as a shepherd, a builder and a restauranteur but it’s his literary work that he’ll be discussing here. In an evening introduced by poet and critic Grahame Davies, this is a rare chance to hear Amir Or read and discuss his work.
Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Amir Or has published articles and essays on literature, theology and the classics, and has translated poetry from Greek, Latin and English among other languages. He has published several collections of poetry in Hebrew, many of which have been translated into English.
He has received the Prime Minister literature award, the Mordechai Bernstein prize from the Israeli Publisher Association, Tel Aviv and Bat Yam literary awards and the Culture Minister’s honorary award for his translations of classical Greek poetry.
