The Story Continues for the Library of Wales
Parthian has launched four new titles in its Library of Wales series aiming to make out of print classic Welsh novels available to a new generation of readers. Full sets of the library, which will include fiction, poetry, essays and non–fiction, will be placed in every school and public library in Wales. Author and English teacher Hayley Long has written an Educational Resource Pack designed to help teachers introduce Welsh writing in English into the classroom. Teachers are provided with ideas for activities and photocopiable resources for placing each text within its social and historical context, encouraging discussion and stimulating oral presentations, understanding themes and focusing on language.
"It is important that children and people of all ages in Wales have access to literature which is rooted in their own experience and reflects their lives and heritage. The new Educational Resource Pack, excellently produced by experienced English teacher Hayley Long is an important tool to help bring the classics into the classroom and encourage discussion between pupils about our culture".
