The Cardiff International Poetry Competition 2007 is counting down. There are only 3 days left until the closing date on Friday 26 January. So if you think you have what it takes to win the top prize of £5000 for just one poem then enter now. Additional prizes of £500 for second place, £250 for third and five runners up prizes of £50 are also available.
Judging the 2007 competition are 2005 Wales Book of the Year winner Owen Sheers and 2004 Forward Prize winner Kathleen Jamie. Previous Cardiff International Poetry Competition winner Tiffany Atkinson will act as filter judge.

Remember this is a truly international competition you do not have to have been born in or resident in Wales to enter. We have received entries from all over the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.
The winners will be announced during the first week of May 2007.
The 2008 Cardiff International Poetry Competition will be launched in May so keep an eye on the Academi website for further details and to find out who walked away with the top prize of £5000 in the 2007 Competition.

The long awaited Rhys Davies Short Story Competition is now open so don’t miss your chance to get your hands on one of 11 cash prizes. There is a top prize of a massive £1000 for just one story and £100 each for ten runners up.
The first Rhys Davies Short Story Competition was held in 1991 and was established to extend interest in the work of the Welsh author Rhys Davies and to promote short fiction writing in Wales.
Entry forms are now available from Academi and will soon be available as a download from the Academi website. To receive an entry form through the post send a Stamped Self Addressed Envelope to: Rhys Davies 07, Academi, Mount Stuart House, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff, CF10 5FQ.

The John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry is returning in autumn 2007. With heats being held all over Wales, this is a chance not only to get your unpublished poetry heard but also to be in with the chance of winning a large cash prize. Winners from each heat will battle it out in a grand final. Entrants must have been born in or live in Wales.
