Wales Book of the Year 2007

2006 was a very successful year for authors Rhys Evans and Robert Minhinnick, winners of the Wales Book of the Year Award. They each received £10,000 – Rhys Evans for his biography of Welsh politician Gwynfor Evans and Robert Minhinnick for his book To Babel and Back (Seren, 2005).
Academi will soon be launching the 2007 award. On 2 March 2007 in the Senedd, Cardiff - as part of World Book Day celebrations - Academi will announce the 10 books in English and 10 books in Welsh that will make up the Wales Book of the Year 2007 Long List.
Then on 28 May, at the Guardian Hay Festival, the Long List will be cut down to a Short List of three books in each language.
And then - Golden Envelope time. At the glittering Wales Book of the Year Award Ceremony on 9 July 2007 at the Hilton Hotel, Cardiff the two winners will be announced and presented with their cheques.
But who are the judges that must make such a decision?
On the panel judging the books in English are Katie Gramich, Patrick McGuinness and Carolyn Hitt. And on the Welsh-langauage panel, John Rowlands, Elinor Jones and Gwion Hallam. Learn more about the judges on the Academi website.
