Roland Mathias Award 2007

The Brecknock Society & Museum Friends in Association with BBC Wales present the Roland Mathias Award 2007 at the Guildhall in Brecon. The prize – for Welsh writing in English – is awarded for a work published over the last two years in the field of poetry, short stories, literary criticism or Welsh history. It is open to any writer born in Wales or currently based in Wales. The 4 short listed authors are competing for a £2,000 prize
The Award Ceremony will commence at 4.30 pm with readings from four of Wales’ foremost poets, Christine Evans, Gillian Clarke, Peter Finch and Christopher Meredith. This will be followed by drinks and the much awaited prize–winning announcement at 7.00 pm.

Dannie Abse for Running Late
Tony Brown for R.S. Thomas
Tony Conran for The Red Sap of Love
Philip Gross for The Egg of Zero
