Wales Book of the Year 2007: Meet the Longlisted Authors

Would you like to learn more about the personalities behind the Wales Book of the Year 2007 Long List masterpieces? Would you like to delve into the world of these amazing authors?
As part of BayLit events this year, there’ll be a chance for you to come face to face with some of the nation’s finest contemporary authors. Join us at the Seligman Room in the Wales Millennium Centre on Saturday 21 April.
In the first of two intimate events, Francesca Rhydderch, Editor of the New Welsh Review, will be grilling Daniel G. Williams, Merryn Williams and Jeremy Hooker. Following a brief break, Ion Thomas, author and literary critic will be putting Catrin Dafydd, Llwyd Owen and Herbert Hughes under the spotlight.
The full 2007 BayLit programme includes the launch of Taliesin Magazine issue 130, A Night for the Unpublished, a discussion between Gwyn Thomas, the National Poet of Wales and Andrew Motion, the Poet Laureate chaired by the first National Poet of Wales, Gwyneth Lewis, plus a host of Catalan and Welsh poetry in the Glanfa at the Wales Millennium Centre.
In this weekend–long literary extravaganza there’ll certainly be something to please everybody’s taste….so book your tickets now.

This won’t be the end of it for this year’s Wales Book of the Year. On Monday 28 May, the ten will become three when the Short List is announced at the Hay Festival where Jon Gower will chair a bilingual discussion with the Shortlisted authors.
Then on Monday 9 July at a glittering ceremony in the Hilton Hotel, Cardiff, cheques of £10,000 each will be presented to the two winners, as well as £1,000 each to the four runners-up.
