The Falklands Diaries

Falklands

Exhibition closes 30 June 2007
Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff

2007 marks the 25th anniversary of the Falklands Conflict. In February, Uruguayan photographer Diego Vidart and Welsh writer Des Barry travelled to the Falklands Islands to document, in word and image, impressions of people and place, landscape and psychology, both the islanders’ and their own reactions to present realities and the traumatic past. The exhibition includes photographs, words, projections on the Icon Wall and interactive workstations.

Des Barry teaches Creative Writing at the University of Glamorgan. He is the author of three novels and last year he was awarded a Creative Wales Award from the Arts Council of Wales. Diego Vidart is a Documentary Photographer and Photojournalist. He is currently leading a project in Merthyr Tydfil producing digital stories.

The exhibition runs from May 1 – June 30
