Academi and BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam

Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea
Thursday 17 May 2007, 7.30pm
Free Event
BBC Radio 4 is running a national poetry slam this summer with the aim of finding Britain’s best slammer. But before the excitement of the finals which will be broadcast on Radio 4, there will be regional heats taking place in nine geographical areas across Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England.
The Academi are working with the BBC to organise the Welsh heat of the competition. All the competitors have proven themselves worthy in past competitions, so it will definitely be a slam to remember. Why not come along and see for yourself who will be picked to represent Wales in the finals.
Your MC for the evening will be former town poet of Newport Goff Morgan. The difficult task of judging this competition goes to Parthian’s Poetry Editor Jasmine Donahaye, 2006 Wales Book of the Year short listed poet Ifor Thomas along with writer and Swansea Literature Officer Dave Woolley.

The fate of our competitors is in their hands but whom will they crown Wales’ best slammer?
