Beyond Fiction and Non–Fiction

A Writing Workshop with Desmond Barry in the hills nr. Hay-on-Wye
30 June - 1 July 2007
Join novelist, Desmond Barry for a weekend of writing and relaxation at Kunselling Retreat Centre, a seventeenth century farmhouse with a modern accommodation wing. Enjoy delicious food, evenings around the log fire, and the exploration of your own creativity.
The cost is £120, which includes the workshop, two nights accommodation and meals, which are mostly organic food. Rooms are shared. Bring your own fine wine, if you wish.
We’ll explore what’s true, what’s not, and whether it matters: in fiction and non-fiction. We’ll also have time for writing and walking on the National Trust Land adjacent to the property.
Desmond Barry is the author of Cressida’s Bed, A Bloody Good Friday, and The Chivalry of Crime, all published by Jonathan Cape/Vintage. His short fiction and prose has been published in Granta and The New Yorker. His most recent work (with Diego Vidart) is The Falklands Diary, an exhibition in photography and prose at the Wales Millennium Centre May / June 2007 and 3Cities, three plays written with Raimondo Cortese of Melbourne and Rafael Spregelburd of Buenos Aires.
