Academi Annual Literary Lunch

The annual Academi Literary Lunch will be held at Portmeirion Hotel on Sunday 30 September 2007 from 12:30pm. This year’s guest speakers will be the actor Richard Elfyn on behalf of Ian Rowlands, and Ed Thomas, both renowned writers and directors for drama and the theatre in Wales.
Ian Rowlands first trained as an actor, but is now a writer and an artistic director. As a writer his theatre credits include The Sin-Eaters, Solomon’s Glory, and Marriage of Convenience, and his work as artistic director, most recently for Llwyfan Gogledd Cymru, include Deinameit, Caerdroia, Frongoch, DW2416, and Branwen. He has also written extensively for radio and television. Some of his plays are published by Parthian Books, such as A Trilogy of Appropriation. His speech will be read by Richard Elfyn, who is one of Wales’ best known actors.
Since setting up the production company Fiction Factory in 1988, Ed Thomas has worked as a writer, director and producer in theatre, film, drama and documentary. His plays include Song from a Forgotten City, Gas Station Angel and Stone City Blue. He has won numerous awards including BAFTA Cymru awards for his work on Silent Village, Fallen Sons, House of America, Satellite City, Fondue Rhyw a Dinasors, and Dal:Yma/Nawr. Most recently he has been working on China, and Y Pris and the third series of Caerdydd.
