Tony Curtis in Glanfa Tonight

Join Tony Curtis in Glanfa as he reads from and discusses his latest collection of poetry Crossing Over. The event will be introduced by Academi Chief Executive Peter Finch and will include a reading from Ifor Thomas.
Tony Curtis’s wide-ranging interests in visual art, the impact of war and the nature of friendship coalesce in his latest collection, Crossing Over. A number of poems take their inspiration from great artists, from early religious icons to expressionist canvasses, from a ‘buttery girl’ in a Flemish Landscape to the chainsaw sculptures of David Nash. There are also a series of sumptuous poems about traveling. A sonnet about his granddaughter opens the varied and striking collection, which shows the work of a poet writing with power, honesty and sensitivity.
Tony has also recently edited After the First Death an anthology of war writing which includes work from Welsh writers Gwyneth Lewis, Dannie Abse, Chris Meredith, Meic Stephens, Sarah Waters, Owen Sheers, Sheenagh Pugh, Robert Minhinnick and Peter Finch.
