Dylan Thomas Festival

Saturday 27 October – Friday 9 November 2007

The tenth annual Dylan Thomas Festival will feature the usual exciting mix of Dylan-related events, plus the best of contemporary writing, celebrity guests and much more. Many big names have already featured in this year’s festival including Colin Dexter, Russell T. Davies, Jasper Forde, Kate Fforde, Michael Bogdanov, Matthew Sweeney and Menna Elfyn. However there are still plenty of events to attend before the festival draws to a close this weekend.

This year the Festival also combines with the Swansea Fringe Festival, offering a series of late-evening arts events to complement the main Festival.

- Wednesday 7 November, 7.30 pm

The Truth about Love  - W.H. Auden Centenary
In the centenary year of another of the giants of British poetry we present an evening of poems and music chosen by Phil Bowen. There will be a miscellany of Auden’s poetry, read by Phil and Swansea actress Shirley King, (who has most recently appeared at the festival in Phil’s Parlez Vous Jig Jig) interspersed with famous songs from the period, including Coward’s Mad about the Boy and Rodgers and Hart’s My Funny Valentine, sung by Anne Williams accompanied by Peter Williams.

- Thursday, 8 November at 7.30pm

Dylan Thomas in America
We reprise this superb adaptation by Gwynne Edwards and celebrate yet another centenary as Peter Read plays Dylan for the 100th time  in one of the Festival’s finest hours - his acclaimed tour de force one man performance as Dylan in America.

- Friday 9 November, 7.00pm
