Tŷ Newydd Taster Courses

These shorter courses can be attended on a residential or a non-residential basis. They are designed for writers at all levels of experience and aim to give a taste of what can be expected on a normal (Monday to Saturday) Tŷ Newydd course. They are open to Tŷ Newydd regulars as well as to those who have never been before.

Poetry and Prose Weekend

5 – 7 September 2008 
With Gladys Mary Coles and  Zoe Skoulding

A course that will explore new avenues and ideas to spark the imagination and initiate new pieces of writing in poetry or prose.

Gladys Mary Coles’ poetry collections include Song of the Butcher Bird (2007) and The Echoing Green (2001), both from Flambard. Winner of the Daily Post Arts Award for Writing, and many other prizes, she represented Britain in the Euro-Literature Project. An anthologist, literary biographer and lecturer in creative writing at Liverpool University, she runs the poetry press Headland Publications.
 
Zoe Skoulding is a poet, writer, musician, performer and lecturer in literature and creative writing. Since 1994 she has edited the creative writing magazine Skald, more recently alongside co-editor Ian Davidson with whom she also writes collaboratively. She has written lyrics for Welsh musicians Rheinallt H Rowlands and David Wrench, with whom she also played bass’. Her second collection of poems from Seren, Remains of Future City, will be published in July 2008.
