Rhys Davies Stories to be Broadcast on Radio Wales
Three of the 2008 Rhys Davies Short Story Competition’s winning stories have been recorded for broadcast on Radio Wales. The stories, including the overall winner and two runners-up will be read by big name actors and actresses from Wales.
Merthyr-born actor Richard Harrington who stars in Holby Blue and recently appeared in the critically acclaimed BBC adaptation of Bleak House will read the 1st prize-winning story Eagle in the Maze by Penny Simpson. Torchwood and Belonging star Eve Myles will bring to life Bridget Keehan’s short story Sorry for the Loss. And Ruth Jones who stars in and co-writes the multi award-winning sitcom Gavin and Stacey will read Kate D’Lima’s White Rabbit.
Each transmission will go out at 6.04 pm on Radio Wales. The broadcast dates are as follows:
Sunday 17 February - Ruth Jones reads White Rabbit by Kate D’Lima
Sunday 24 February – Eve Myles reads Sorry for the Loss by Bridget Keehan
Sunday 2 March – Richard Harrington reads Eagle in the Maze by Penny Simpson

Academi are delighted with this extra addition to this year’s competition which will also see an anthology published by Cinnamon Press of all of the eleven prize-winning stories. The anthology will be launched by Academi and the Rhys Davies Trust at the Guardian Hay Festival on the Literature in Wales stand. More information will be available soon on the Academi website.
