The Robin Reeves Prize for Young Writers
The Welsh Writers’ Trust was established in December 1986 in order to encourage, enrich and stimulate English-language writing in Wales.
To mark its 21st anniversary, and to commemorate the late Robin Reeves, founder member of the Trust and for many years its chairman, the trustees have decided to establish the Robin Reeves Prize for Young Writers. The winner of the prize will receive £500.
The Trustees invite young writers to submit an example of their original work, which would be suitable for inclusion in the New Welsh Review. This can be poetry, fiction, drama, review or reportage - comprising complete works or excerpts from longer pieces.
The following rules should be observed…
1. Writers should be aged between 16 and 24, i.e. below 25 at the end of 2007.
2. Should have been born or be currently living in Wales
3. Should submit a piece of their own original work up to 1,500 words in length.
4. Each entry should be accompanied by a fee of £5, and a completed entry form.
5. The closing date is May 1st, 2008.
6. Entries should be sent to: The Welsh Writers’ Trust, 25, Westbourne Road, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, CF64 3HA.
The prize winner will be selected by a jury made up of the Trustees. Their decision will be final.
The winner of the Robin Reeves prize will be announced in the Autumn 2008 issue of the New Welsh Review, or enquiries may be made to h.price3@ntlworld.com.
For an entry form, send an s.a.e. to The Welsh Writers’ Trust
