The 2008 Academi Cardiff International Poetry Competition winners will be announced at an official ceremony aboard cruise vessel Seren Y Bae on Tuesday 3 June 2008. This year’s ceremony is unique in that it will be held afloat and includes a 90 minute covered cruise around Cardiff Bay. The winners will be announced and the prizes awarded in the company of the prize-winners, Welsh poets, local literary enthusiasts and dignitaries.

The ceremony will begin as we board Seren Y Bae at 2.00 pm on Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay. So if you want to be one of the first to find out who judges Jo Shapcott and U A Fanthorpe have chosen to sail away with the first prize of £5,000 for just one poem then join us beyond the sea…

Academi will also launch the 2009 Cardiff International Poetry Competition as part of the event; keep an eye on the website for details of our two new big name judges.
