Jasmine Donahaye takes Welsh Publishers Parthian to Another Literary Short List

Stephen Knight, Michael Laskey (Chair), and Carole Satyamurti are the three judges who shortlisted 5 titles from 35 national submissions to the 2006 Jerwood Aldeburgh First Collection Prize. The winner will be announced at the 18th Aldeburgh International Poetry Festival on Friday 3 November.

The shortlist for the 2006 Jerwood Aldeburgh First Collection Prize:

Roger Moulson - Waiting for the Night Rowers (Enitharmon)
Torgara Muzanenhamo - Spirit Brides (Carcanet)
Jane Yeh - Marabou (Carcanet)

Poetry Trust Director, Naomi Jaffa said, “This year’s shortlist offers an extraordinary cultural diversity – five poets with backgrounds and experiences from all over the world: North and South America, France, The Netherlands, Scotland, Wales and Zimbabwe”.

Sponsored by the Jerwood Charity, the £3000 prize also includes a week’s protected writing time and a paid invitation to read at the 2007 Aldeburgh International Poetry Festival.

Last year’s Jerwood Aldeburgh First Collection winner, Nick Laird has just been shortlisted for the new Dylan Thomas Prize - the largest literature prize in the UK. Laird will be reading at this year’s Aldeburgh Poetry Festival alongside Jenny Joseph and John Powell Ward on Friday 3 November.
