Wales Book of the Year



 

The annual Wales Book of the Year prizes, administered by the Academi, are awarded to the best Welsh language and English language works in the fields of creative writing and literary criticism.

Prizes are awarded for the best books published during the previous calendar year. This year, Academi was responsible for awarding books first published during 2009.

The 2010 Wales Book of the Year Long List of ten books in English and ten in Welsh were announced in April 2010 at a location in Bangor.

The 2010 Wales Book of the Year Short List of three English-language books and three Welsh-language books were revealed at the Guardian Hay Festival 6 June 2010. 

The 2010 Wales Book of the Year came to an end in a glittering award ceremony in Cardiff 30 June 2010, where the two winners were awarded a cheque of £10,000 each and the four runners-up received a cheque for £1,000 each.
