ARCHDRUID
The chief officer and symbolic head of the Gorsedd of Bards. Clwydfardd (David Griffith; 1800-94), who considered himself to be the first Archdderwydd, was confirmed in his position in 1888; to date (2005), 28 Archdruids have been elected. Since 2001, the Archdruid has been elected triennially by all Gorsedd members and not by members of the Gorsedd board alone.
