Funding Guidelines
General Information
Events will only be supported where writers and storytellers:- Give practical workshops in creative writing and the creative use of language give lectures on topics pertaining directly to the appreciation of creative writing, give straightforward readings/ performances of their creative writing or give performances of work which derive from oral traditions.
- Celebrate, develop or encourage the enjoyment or practice of literature. One-person literature shows delivered by actors are not eligible under these schemes, although in these cases we may be able to advise on alternative sources of funding.
The Academi cannot offer support to events where Arts Council of Wales funding (including Arts for All Lottery grants) has already been secured. If organisers anticipate applying for ACW funding for a particular event or project, the Academi should be informed. In no circumstances may organisers receive funding for the same activity from both the Academi and ACW. The Academi’s staff will be pleased to advise if organisers are unsure in a particular case.
When organising an event, care should be taken not to clash with other local events or with events of literary significance further afield. The Academi will be pleased to offer advice. Users can check the up-to-date Wales-wide directory of literary events on this website. Information on the next two months is also included in the Academi’s bi-monthly literary events magazine, A470. We suggest that organisers advise the Academi once a date has been arranged so that outline information can immediately be included in our on-line listings. This information can be expanded at a later date.
