Gladys ColesPoet, biographer, publisher and tutor of creative writing, Gladys was educated in Wales and at the universities of Liverpool and London. Her published work includes nine collections of poetry, six anthologies and two biographies of Mary Webb. Gladys’ poetry has been anthologised by Faber, Cassell, Virago, the Forward Prizes, Seren, Collins, as well as being broadcast on BBC TV, BBC Radio 4, BBC Wales. Other broadcasts include a ’Kaleidoscope’ special feature. She was editor of the Bulletin of The Welsh Academy, 1995–98. Gladys is a lecturer in Imaginative Writing at Liverpool John Moores University and also at the University of Liverpool. She is President of the Mary Webb Society and runs the literary press, Headlands Publications. Gladys has tutored courses for the Arvon Foundation and at Ty Newydd, and is a frequent sdjudicator of poetry competitions (most recently at the Cardiff International, Llandudno and Conwy Festivals).
