HOUGHTON, PAUL
Fiction writer. reviewer and journalist. Born in Hay–on–Wye and studied fine art at Exeter College of Art and creative writing under Angela Carter and Malcolm Bradbury at the University of East Anglia. Paul won the Betty Trask Award for his first novel, 1989, and the Oppenheim Award for work-in-progress,1996. He works in film and theatre and had a short film screened on STV in 1994. His stories have been published in a number of UK magazines and anthologies: The Fiction Magazine, Panurge, Cutting Teeth, Mouth, A Strange Place. He currently teaches creative writing at Staffordshire University and is working on a novel and collection of short stories (two of his stories can be read at www.laurahird.com).
