Phyllis M. JonesBorn 1923, in Truro, Cornwall. Trained as a state registered nurse, occupational nursing officer. Since retirement runs smallholding in Carmarthenshire. Has been writing most of adult life and has published poetry and short stories in several literary magazines. Wrote for professional magazines as journalist; editor for the Council for the Protection of Rural Wales for a few years. Her novel There’s always the Park was a runner-up for the Theodora Roscoe Award (Society of Women Writers and Journalists). 

Her book The Crystal Moment (Kenwyn, 2006) was awarded a Scroll commendedation by Holyer an Gof for Adult Fiction (under £12 cost). The ceremony was arranged by The Cornish Gorsedd and The Eden Project, and took place in Truro, July 2007. One poem about ’The Alouetta’ (a family boat which took part in the Dunkirk rescue), was read to the authors present. 

Phyllis’ latest book, entitled A Life That I Did Not Know (Kenwyn Publishers, 2008) is now available. It covers the story of a Cornish family over two centuries. Phyllis is a Member of the Society of Authors, West Country Writers’ Association and Academi.
