Francesca has over 20 years experience in writing poetry for and with children. She works in schools, libraries, museums, even outdoors! She undertakes day visits to schools, as well as longer projects.
In addition to her work with children, she is a performer of Poems to Go, performed in many different locations, most recently at the 2006 Pontypool Jazz Festival where she was the Festival Poet. Francesca writes for composer Mervyn Burtch, their most successful collaboration being The First Dragon, a piece for narrator and orchestra, that is performed on the same programme as Peter and the Wolf. Song cycles include ’Hail Taliesin’ and ’The Green Isles of the Ocean’. Francesca has collaborated with singer songwriter Ray Weatherill in The Last Cut (Accent, 2005), a collection of love songs and poems. Francesca also reads poetry about and gives talks on plants, herbs and folklore.
