KNIGHT, STEPHEN
Poet, novelist and critic. Born in Swansea in 1960, Stephen read English at Oxford. He is the author of two volumes of poetry (both shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot prize), one pamphlet and a novel entitled Mr Schnitzel (Viking/Penguin, 2000) which won the Welsh Book of the Year Award 2001. Recipient of a Gregory Award in 1987 and winner of the 1992 National Poetry Competition. Widely published in magazines and anthologies, including Twentieth Century Anglo–Welsh Poetry and The Penguin Book of Poetry from Britain and Ireland since 1945. Stephen has written fiction and poetry reviews for the TLS. He has also conducted writing workshops with children and adults since the mid–1980s. Stephen is currently a tutor on the University of Glamorgan’s MPhil in Writing as well as an occasional tutor for Ty Newydd, the Arvon Foundation, Birkbeck College, The City Lit, the Open College of the Arts, the Poetry School and the Poetry
Society.
