Poet and author of children’s books and crime fiction. Charles was born in Ebbw Vale in 1959 and educated at University of York, Jesus College Oxford and University of Wales. He works within the criminal justice system and has had poetry previously published by Envoi and the Anglo–Welsh Poetry Society. In 1988 he received the Kathleen Fidler Award for Children’s Fiction and in 1989, his first children’s novel Flight of the Solar Ducks (Blackie, 1988) was listed in the School Library Association’s 100 Recommended Titles for Secondary Schools.
