Simple Arithmetic (Cinnamon, 2008)
With Simple Arithmetic Rees revisits...themes of memory, the changing sessions, the ephemerality of love - the need to struggle on despite the frailty and vulnerability of the human frame. The prevailing tone is Larkin-esque: ironic and self-mockingly poignant. In these poems, he has moved on...to a greater honesty and depth. There is typical sardonic humour;...an insight into Lloyd Rees’ exceptional versatility as a poet.
