SHAW, ROBERT

Robert continues to combine literary and jazz careers (he was a professional saxist at 16) in engagement with Poetry & Jazz in Fusion which began in 1972. Robert is currently in duo with keyboardist and poet Anne Shaw. His literary career includes University posts, creative fellowships (including NW Universities, USA), poems for BBC radio and television, and leading periodicals, reveiwing for the Times group, tours for Arts Council and regional arts, editorship of Pioneer modern poetry anthology and Yorkshire Arts literary magazine. He has currently had ten collections of poems published (reviewed favourably in the TLS). Robert has completed over a thousand performances / readings, community arts promotions and has a 3–star commendation in the Virgin Encyclopaedia of Jazz for an earlier P&J recording.
