Novelist and journalist with family roots in Anglesey. Alison was educated in England and returned to North Wales in 1965. She was a student of architecture before turning to a career in probation and social work. Her achievements in exposing the abuse of children in care recognised in 1996 by the Campaign for Freedom of Information and in the social work press. Alison’s papers on childcare and ethics have been published in Britain and abroad, and she is a regular contributor to social work journals. She has received the Arts Council of Wales Disabled Writers’ Award 1994. Her novels have been published in Britain, Germany, United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan.
