WATERS, SARAH

Novelist. Born in Pembrokeshire in 1966. She has a PhD in English Literature and has been an Associate Lecturer with the Open University. She has won the Somerset Maugham Award and The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award and twice been shortlisted for the Mail on Sunday/John Llewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize. Her novel Tipping the Velvet, set in Victorian London, was recently dramatised by Andrew Davis for the BBC, and her novel Fingersmith was shortlisted for the 2002 Orange Prize. She lives in London.
The Night Watch (Virago, 2006), was on the Wales Book of the Year 2007 Long List.
