Cat WeatherillProfessional performance storyteller since 1998 and now also a successful children’s author. Studied Drama at the University of Hull and maintains a strongly theatrical approach to storytelling. Has made numerous performances at all major UK literature festivals and internationally at storytelling festivals. Performed live for two million listeners on Radio 4’s Front Row – and for 1400 children at St David’s Hall, Cardiff. First novel Barkbelly (Puffin) published in 2005 was shortlisted for the Branford Boase award and the Calderdale Children’s Book of the Year. Hugely experienced schools performer (Artist in Education since 1987). Particularly likes working with infants. Full Equity member.

Eligible Writers on Tour Subjects offered:
1. For schools: Once Upon A Rhyme (famous fairy tales, ages 4 – 7) Shine! (tales on the theme of light, ages 4 – 7) Bear Tales (stories and puppets, ages 4 – 7) World Tales (glorious stories from around the world, ages 4 – 12) Barkbelly (a lively introduction to the novel, followed by Q & A and workshops based on the book, including its visual design. Ages 7 – 12, maximum 200 children in a school hall) Sessions on Snowbone and Wild Magic also available.
2. For adults: Magic Happens Cat talks about her career so far, as both a storyteller and an author. Fascinating and funny! Perfect for writers’ groups, libraries, teachers’ conferences, WIs, after dinner etc
3. For adults: Ghost (traditional ghost stories) Mermaid (sea stories) Kissing the Wind (three medieval stories by Marie de France) Bawdy Stories (classical sauciness) Queen of the Planets (based on an Irish tale, told with Daniel Morden)
4. For families: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (classic midwinter adventure, with a real Green Knight! 7+) Barkbelly and Other Terrific Tales (highly entertaining introduction to the novel plus Q & A and book signing)

AGE RANGE: 3 years old to adult. Schools: infants and juniors only.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Quiet auditorium for adult shows. Blackout required for Ghost and Queen of the Planets. Large venues may require clip–on radio mic.
