Landeg WhiteLandeg White was born in Taffs Well and has worked in Trinidad, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Zambia and York. He now teaches at the Universidade Aberta (Open University) in Lisbon. His fifteen books include studies of VS Naipaul and of southern African praise poetry, histories of Malawi and Mozambique and six collections of poetry. His translation of Camões The Lusíads won the Texeira Gomes prize for 1998. He is currently writing a biography of John Gabriel Stedman and preparing a complete translation of Camoes’ lyrical poetry. Landeg is a Member of Academi.
