Derec is a writer, artist and poet based in Llanelli. He also writes stage plays, television scripts and articles. Derec started painting in acrylics in 2001 after a moment of inspiration involving a packet of filter tips. He now paints mostly in oils, and sometimes acrylics on canvas. The paintings are vibrant and unique. Inspiration is drawn from the fusion of the inner landscape with the beauty of the natural world.
