HUMFREY, BELINDA

Scholar and critic. Born in Northampton and educated at Oxford. She lectured at Oxford and Reading universities before moving to St David’s University College, Lampeter, in 1968, where she was Head of the English Department between 1990 and 1995. Her main area of interest is the work of John Cowper Powys and his brothers: she is editor of the scholarly journal, The Powys Review. Belinda has also published widely on Welsh literature in English. In 1988 she established the quarterly New Welsh Review and was its editor for three years.
