CLARKE, GEORGE

Born in Bacup, Lancashire. He left school at fifteen and worked for a year in a shoe factory. Following this he worked for the GPO as a telephone engineer for eighteen years, then became a domestic appliance engineer for eighteen years. He was unable to work following injuries sustained in a car accident. He has been a member of the brass band movement since 1947. After taking a creative writing course at Accrington and Rossendale College, he has written two novels, Bold as Brass (United Writers Publications, 1997) and Blood on the Field (The Vanguard Press, 2004). He lives in Towyn, north Wales.
