Dramatist/ screenwriter/ poet.
Peter Cox is an award–winning dramatist who began his writing career at the Royal Court Theatre in London where he won the George Devine Award in 1983. His stage plays have since been performed throughout Britain by many companies including 7:84 Theatre Company as well as at the Belfast Opera House and the Royal National Theatre. He has twenty five years experience of youth theatre, community plays and creative leadership in a wide range of community arts projects.

Between 1986 and 2003 he wrote 227 episodes of Brookside. He has a B.ED in Drama and has run writing workshops for the BBC and various independent television companies and his work has been broadcast in more than twenty countries. His radio drama has been broadcast on Radio 3 and Radio 4.

He regularly runs writing courses and led many Brookside Script to Screen events in venues ranging from Belfast and Edinburgh to Kuala Lumpur. He has a B.ED in Drama and has run writing workshops for BBC Wales, BAFTA and Media Education Wales as well as lecturing on screenwriting at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, the John Moores University Liverpool, and the De Montefort University, Leicester.
