VERITY, JO

Jo is from Cardiff and retired at the age of 60 in November 2004. Her first full–length novel, Everything in the Garden (Honno, 2005), was launched at the Hay Festival. The novel is about a group of 50–something couples who sell up their city homes for a rambling farmhouse in the Welsh Marches.

Jo was a former graphic designer for the School of Dentistry, University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and has already won acclaim from TV interviewers Richard and Judy on whose programme she beat 17,000 entries to win the Short Story Prize Competition in 2003. Jo also won the Western Mail’s short story competition in 2004.

Jo has recently released her second novel, entitled Bells (Honno, 2007) also set in Wales, about a Morris-dancing dentist who is a disappointment to his wife. Jo continues to enter short story competitions.
