WHITE, ELIZABETH

Elizabeth White was born in south Cardiganshire and has lived in the county for most of her life. After attending local primary and secondary schools she studied science at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She went on to research, spending some time in Salisbury; locusts was one of her fields of study. She returned to Ceredigion and continued working for the Civil Service. After marrying and raising two children, Elizabeth resumed working and enjoyed her period as a teacher immensely. In her retirement she lives in Blaenporth where she is very involved in the cultural activities of her local community.

Elizabeth White’s book Rats, Pigs and Privies (Cymdeithas Lyfrau, 2005), are recollections of stories told by her family and friends, as well as her own experience of rural Cardiganshire society in the early twentieth century.
