BOGDANOV, MICHAEL


Michael BogdanovMichael Bogdanov is a theatre director and has directed Shakespeare in many of the world’s leading theatres and with major theatre companies including the Royal Shakespeare Company. He was Associate Director of the Royal National Theatre for eight years and he co–founded the English Shakespeare Company in 1986 with actor Michael Pennington. He was also Chief Executive of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus (National Theatre) in Hamburg, from 1989–1992. He has won numerous awards at home and abroad including the Society of West End Theatres, Best Director for his production of The Taming of the Shrew and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Director for his seven-play history cycle The Wars of the Roses. Michael now lives and works in Cardiff.
