HUMPHRIES, JOHN

John was in Newport, Gwent in 1937 and educated at St Julians High School, Newport, up to and including ŒA¹ Level. He worked for the Western Mail between 1954-1969 as a reporter, Industrial Editor and Crime Editor, between 1969-1972 as News Editor, between 1972-1980 as Deputy Editor, between 1987-1992 as Editor and between as 1988-89 as Editor in Chief Western Mail and Wales on Sunday. From 1993 to the present time, John has been employed as Gardening Editor at The Western Mail.

John also worked at Thompson Regional Papers between 1980-1985 as the Brussels based Bureau Chief, covering European Union institutions, and Western Europe and between 1985-1987 as the London Editor and City Editor.
