Tony was born in Cardiff in 1966, where he still lives with his wife and 2 children, aged 7 and 11. He is a Radiotherapy Physicist with the Velindre NHS trust by day, and a comedian by night, performing with various groups including the PieInEar comedy company. The concept of Freeloading Cymru came about after a throw away comment to a friend that he could talk his way around Wales for free. The comment led to a challenge, which in turn led to Tony setting forth from Cardiff Bay with nothing but a small bag of clothes and plenty of optimism. The book follows his three–week adventure where he spends a night in each of Wales’ 22 unitary authorities and uncovers the best and worst of Wales and the Welsh.
