PRICE, DERRICK

Dr Derrick Price was born in Bargoed and has extensive involvement with the arts in Wales and elsewhere. He has written a number of important texts, in particular on the subject of photography. Initially educated at The London School of Economics, Derrick holds a Post–graduate Diploma in Modern Social and Cultural Studies from Chelsea College, London Institute and has a PhD in Cultural Studies, CCCS. He also holds a University of Birmingham Diploma in Online Education and Training, Institute of Education, London University. Derrick is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts Chair, Board of Management, Watershed Media Centre, Bristol and a Director of the Bristol Cultural Development Partnership Board Member, Cywaith Cymru, Cardiff. Derrick has worked for some years in film–making as a writer, editor and director, and has held a long term, full time position as a film director for Transcription Feature Services, Ltd (London). He has also worked for many years in Higher Education including the post of Associate Dean, Faculty of Art Media and Design, University of the West of England. He has extensive experience as an Arts and Media Consultant. He has a particular interest in the relationship between landscape and culture and is currently working on features of the post-industrial landscapes of South Wales.
