Hugh AdamsBorn in Neath, Hugh Adams has written extensively on the arts and cultural matters for over thirty years. Now functioning principally as a writer/researcher, he has held significant posts in arts and cultural management and in higher education in England and returned to Wales to be Research Fellow on Artists‘ Professional Development at Cardiff School of Art & Design. He initiated the Arts Management Course at Oxford Brookes University and was visiting tutor in Arts Management at Sussex University and Dartington College of the Arts. The first Director of Oriel Mostyn and also Britain’s first Art Critic in Residence, at the University of Northumbria and for a number of years Chair of Cywaith Cymru, he has served on the Wales at the Venice Biennale steering committee and as a member of the advisory group on arts commissioning for the Welsh Assembly building.

Hugh is member of a number of advisory groups concerning arts and cultural matters and Director of The Art Agency, an organization concerned with commissioning visual artists’ projects and general cultural research and consultancy.

Hugh Adams has contributed to many publications internationally, including The Guardian, Modern Painters, Artforum, Art Monthly, Studio International and Flash Art and server as Assessor of the University Press of Zaragoza. He has frequently spoken at conferences and symposia concerned with visual arts and cultural matters here and abroad.
