McCULLAIN, ROSAMUND

Rosamund, which is a pen–name, is a long–term mental health service user survivor. She has used writing to express herself ever since she learned to write as a child. She is now self-employed as a mental health trainer and consultant, and started writing The Dispossessed (Chipmunka, 2006) in 1993. Her work is a novel which highlights what it is like to experience mental distress and be on the receiving end of mental health services. It started life as an e-book published in March 2005, and was then published as hard copies in September 2006.

Rosamund’s writing career has been financially assisted by the Real Lives Real People Mind Millennium Award scheme, and the Arts Council for Wales. These grants have enabled her to attend writing courses at the Ty Newydd writer’s centre in North Wales. Rosamund continues to develop her writing through study, teaching others and making as much time as she can for writing. She is currently working on a collection of poetry about mental distress. Rosamund studied English at Aberytswyth University, fell in love with Mid-Wales and has lived there since 1983.
