OWEN, JAMIE

Jamie OwenBorn in Pembroke Dock and educated at Christ College, Brecon, Jamie studied journalism at Cardiff University. He began his broadcasting career on BBC Radio 4 in London where he became one of the presenters of the Six O’Clock News, Today In Parliament and the shipping forecast. Besides his Wales Today duties, Jamie has also co–hosted Good Morning Wales.

Jamie spent the summer of 2003 travelling around the harbours of Wales in a 100–year-old sailing boat for a TV series. He has also joined the BBC National Orchestra of Wales to narrate Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. As well as broadcasting, Jamie has moved behind the camera and set up his own company, Aspect Television. The group has become one of the largest providers of network television in Wales.

Jamie is currently the television news anchor on BBC Wales Today, hosts a daily radio programme on Radio Wales and presents concerts for BBC Radio Three. Jamie’s four television series on Wales have each been materialised in publication by Gomer.
