DAVIES, PETER HO
Born in 1966 to Welsh and Chinese parents, Peter has graduated in both Physics and English, and was awarded an MA in Creative Writing from Boston University. He grew up in the Midlands, visiting grandparents in Wales every holiday. His short fiction has been published in Harper’s Magazine, the Atlantic, Paris Review, Ploughshares, Story and Granta, and is widely anthologized. His first published collection of short stories, entitled The Ugliest House in the World (1998), won the PEN/Macmillan Silver Pen Award, the Oregon Book Award and the Mail on Sunday/John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. In 2003, he was named by Granta magazine as one of twenty ’Best of Young British Novelists’.
Peter now lives in the USA and directs the MFA Programme in Creative Writing at the University of Michigan. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. His first novel, The Welsh Girl, set in a Welsh village during the Second World War, was published by Sceptre in 2007.
