Liz Loxley is a poet and sometime writer of prose. Born in 1961 and educated in Bristol, she now lives in Flintshire, North Wales. Her poems have been anthologised by Faber, Oxford University Press, Gill & Macmillan Ltd, Co-operative Retail Services Limited, Crocus, Durham Books and Bristol Broadsides. Her poem ’The Thickness of Ice’ has travelled the world and appeared on examination papers and in teaching materials. It was highlighted by The Listener for "invigorating crispness in its use of imagery". Her poems have also appeared in a number of poetry magazines, both nationally and locally, including New Poetry, Slow Dancer, The Wide Skirt, Poets Voice, Iron, Corridor and Sol. She has been poet of the week on Radio Bristol, was actively involved in running workshops on behalf of Avon Poetry Festival, has performed widely and was commissioned to write a poetic response to Cheshire County Council’s Education Strategy. In terms of
prose, published work has been mainly football related and an article of hers appeared in The Independent. She has performed in a variety of venues, mainly, but not exclusively, in Bristol, Cheshire and North Wales. In addition to her solo appearances, she has performed as part of a female trio called ’Invisible Lipstick’. A sample of their work together was featured on Radio Merseyside.Contributed to:
