Dr Katharina Hall is Lecturer in German at Swansea University. Her research focuses on the theme of memory and the representation of the National Socialist past in contemporary German literature. Other research interests inlcude German and Anglo-American crime fiction, television and film and critical theory: psychoanalytic, narrative, reader-response. She has written on the work of W.G. Sebald, Zafer Senocak, Bernhard Schlink and Esther Dischereit, and on the role of memory and identification in post-1945 histories of National Socialism. Dr Hall’s current research project is entitled ’Detecting the Past: Representations of National Socialism in English- and German-language crime fiction, television and film’. She is a founder member of MEICAM (Research group for the study of Modern European Ideologies, Conflict and Memory) and a Crime Narratives in Context (CNIC, Cardiff University) network associate.
