MORRIS, SHARON
Sharon was born in west Wales and studied at the Slade School of Art where she is currently a Senior Lecturer. She has exhibited photography, film and video, and performed live artworks bringing together spoken text and projected images. Having completed her PhD in 2000 on the relation between words and images, she continues to write on semiotics, visual theory and poetics, for which she received a Leverhulme research fellowship in 2003. Sharon is currently researching on the philosophy of C.S. Peirce, seeking in particular to use Peirce to generate new theories of the image and aesthetic theory based on the concept of the index. Alongside this she continues to create work based on the relation between words and images, spoken poetry and projection, poems on the page, and photographic or digital images. Her poems have appeared in several anthologies and journals including Poetry Wales and Poetry London, and she has performed her poems with visuals at The
South London Gallery; Post Gallery, L.A.; Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge; and the Tate Modern.Selected Publications:
