Katy Cawkwell started telling tales to those around her while walking over the Scottish hills by day, and huddled beside campfires at night. She has been performing as a stoyteller in the theatres, festivals, clubs and pubs of Britain and beyond since 1996. Katy read Classics at Oxford and has trained with leading performance storytellers including Ben Haggarty and Hugh Lupton. She works with traditional material: folklore, legend, myth and saga. She works in school and educational settings, telling tales and devising workshops for children. She is especially strong in areas of Greek and Norse myth, Arthurian legend and British folktale.Katy has also been involved in Creative Partnership work and has wroked for the Countryside Agency, Government Office for the South East, DTI, Treasury and the BBC. She has exhibited at the Barbican Pit Theatre in London, Ljungby International Storytelling Festival in Sweden, Graz International Storytelling Festival in Austria, Beyond the Border International Storytelling Festival in Wales and the Holywell Music Room in Oxford.
